And the 95th Oscars go to…

Everything Everywhere All the statues

For the first time ever a science-fiction film has taken the Oscar for Best Picture. Well-deserved, the A24 film Everything Everywhere All at Once took home seven out of 11 nominations including Best Director to the two Daniels, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Editing, as well Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis and Ke Huy Quan took home three of the four acting statues.

In other highlights Top Gun: Maverick took home the Best Sound award, Black Panther took home Best Costume Design, Avatar took Best Visual Effects, All Quiet took hoe several awards (best international film, best production design, best score and best cinematography). Canadians Brendan Fraser took the well deserved Best Actor for his performance in The Whale, Sarah Polley earned the Best Adapted Screenplay from her film of Miriam Toews’ book Women Talking.
